From one insertion point near the south end of Cedar City, the sheep tunnels no longer cause one to crawl (poor sheep, having to go through such low ceilings!), and makes for what seems like a leisurely walk at first.
Claustrophobes beware. As I descended down the tunnel, the traffic passing overhead made noises that echoed and splashed around in strange ways. I found it deeply unsettling, and I hope you do too! If that tunnel is a reliably unsettling experience for most people, then it’s something to explore. What a chance to face something, eh?
Anyhow, I got further and further along, and both silty and VERY slippery mud, as well as rocks of all sizes, got more abundant. Just as the tunnel ends, some metal fence wreckage makes the path hazardous for a moment before forcing you to choose between going forward on either mud or in water; or turning around and going back.
The end was SO worth the walk and the wait.
